Frequently asked questions about our Scan-to-BIM and 3D building modeling services
Which software does Miviso use?
We always work with the software in which our project partner requires the 3D model or drawings. In most cases, we work with Archicad, Revit, and AutoCAD. Our team also has experience with Vectorworks, Allplan, and Rhino. Is your preferred software not listed? Feel free to contact us. We may be able to accommodate your requirements.
In which file formats are 3D models delivered?
We deliver 3D models both in their native format (e.g. .rvt or .pla) and in the open exchange format .ifc. 2D drawings can be delivered as .pdf files and visualizations as .jpg files.
How long does it take to create a 3D model?
The turnaround time primarily depends on the size and complexity of the building, the quality of the point cloud data, and the required level of detail (LOD 200, LOD 300, or LOD 400). For projects with a low level of detail and limited complexity, several thousand m² of gross floor area (GFA) can be modeled per person per day. For complex listed or historic buildings in LOD 400, the modeling rate may be less than 100 m² GFA per person per day. A certain amount of preparation time is also required to become familiar with a new project or project partner. Our Hypo Tirol Bank project is a good example of typical modeling times and our workflow.
How detailed are your 3D models?
We model each 3D model according to its intended use and your specific project requirements. The required level of detail (LOD 200, LOD 300, or LOD 400) is jointly defined during the project setup. How much does a 3D model cost?
We provide an individual, non-binding quotation for every project. The price primarily depends on the required level of detail, the size and complexity of the building, and the specific project requirements.
